Totally agree, the IFC schema is hard to understand and provided technical descriptions are complicated. As far as I know, BuildingSMART is working now on simplifying this in their IFC 5. But this one is years to come.

This makes it more difficult for newcomers to enter the market. As much as possible, things should be made simple and clear to promote acceptance in the general market, then it will be easier for software vendors to adapt to new projects.

IFC 5 is in the development phase, as far as I know, IFC 4.3 is coming first. It is hard to write about why is this delay happening – I reckon various software vendors have various reasons. Probably they all boil down to not enough demand from projects side.

You have mentioned that our AEC industry is not developing like the IFC versions, I mean there is IFC 5 now, and still, the AEC industry software are not certified for IFC2&3…. so the question is why is this delay happening?

Hey,
I am afraid I don’t understand clearly what do you want me to write about. Could you elaborate on that, please?

I am really interested to know why there is IFC 2, 3 & 4, but the AEC industry can not handle the IFC 2*3 … are you willing to write about it
